Job counts and pay in this guide come from the live listings on this site as of October 22, 2026. They change daily; the linked pages always show today’s numbers.
You are in India, you have a skill a model needs help with, and you want paid work using it. Finding listings is easy. Finding the ones that accept applicants from India takes checking, because most platforms never say. We joined ten platforms and went through their screening ourselves, and we list what they post each day with the country named on every role.
TL;DR
- As of October 22, 2026, we list 139 open AI training listings that name India, out of 1,367 live listings on this site.
- Five platforms post them: SME Careers (113), Turing (13), Handshake AI (7), Mercor (5) and micro1 (1).
- 126 of the 139 state an hourly rate. The median top rate is $55/hr and the highest is $150/hr. Every rate is a ceiling, so read it as "up to".
- Another 920 live listings say only "Remote" with no country. We do not count those as open to you.
- 13 of the 139 India listings are beginner-friendly, with no degree or specialist experience required.
India is the most named country inside that set and the second most named across the whole site, behind the United States. Only 13 of the 139 are beginner-friendly, so most ask for subject depth, a licence or a degree.
How many AI training jobs are open to Indians
Searches for ai training jobs india usually return platform roundups with no sign that the platform takes anyone from here. Our rule is narrower. A listing counts as open to you only if it names India, names the country you are in, or says worldwide.
Of the 1,367 jobs on all open AI training jobs right now, 421 name specific countries, 26 say worldwide, and 920 say only "Remote". That last group is the problem. "Remote" describes where the work happens. It says nothing about who may do it.
139 listings name India. All 139 name at least one specific country, none rely on "worldwide", and none sit in the vague "Remote" group. Most are not India-only either: Bangladesh appears on 100 of them, Pakistan on 95, Nepal on 58 and Bhutan on 57. A role that names India often names several South Asian countries at once.
Which platforms list the most AI training jobs India can apply to
Five of the ten platforms we track posted roles naming India as of October 22, 2026.
| Platform | Open roles naming India | What it posts, from our own screening | Median top rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| SME Careers | 113 | Subject-matter expert and language review roles across medicine, law, science, finance and generalist work | $55/hr |
| Turing | 13 | Software engineering heavy, with language and reasoning work as well | Not stated |
| Handshake AI | 7 | Roles tied to a degree level and field, aimed at students and recent graduates | $47/hr |
| Mercor | 5 | Domain expert contracts for physicians, lawyers, PhDs, engineers and finance people | $11/hr |
| micro1 | 1 | Generalist evaluation plus specialist roles in medicine, finance, engineering and research | $36/hr |
We joined and applied to each one. Here is what that told us.
SME Careers
SME Careers is where SuperAnnotate hires subject-matter experts and language specialists. It lists eligible countries on almost every role, which is rare and is the reason it accounts for most of the India listings. You apply to a role, fill in your profile, and expect a skills assessment in your subject or language. Passing puts you in the pool for that project.
Turing
Turing started as a remote developer marketplace and now runs a large AI training operation. Its listings lean toward software engineers. Many do not state pay up front; you learn the rate during onboarding, which is why its row says "Not stated". Technical roles include coding or skill assessments.
Handshake AI
Handshake AI runs an AI program through the Handshake careers network. Many roles name a degree level or a country in the title. This is a strong fit if you are a current student or recent graduate in a technical field, and a weak fit if you are neither.
Mercor
Mercor matches professionals with AI labs that need expert feedback. Most listings ask for a short AI-led video interview about your background, and some projects add a domain assessment. Apply to the listing that matches your background most closely. Only five of its roles name India, so one low rate moves the median.
micro1
micro1 recruits contractors through an AI recruiter interview. The generalist Evaluation Specialist listings are the most open entry point. Do the interview somewhere quiet, with a working camera and mic.
The platforms compared side by side page covers all ten, and how we vet platforms explains what we do and do not check.
What the work pays
Of the 139 India listings, 126 state an hourly rate and 13 give no figure at all, with the rate shared during onboarding. The median top hourly rate is $55/hr. The 10th percentile is $15/hr and the 90th percentile is $100/hr, so the spread is wide. The highest is $150/hr.
Read every one as "up to". Platforms publish a ceiling, and what a project actually pays can sit below it.
A few examples from the current set, each naming India among its countries:
- Medical Doctor (Specialist) on SME Careers, up to $150/hr.
- Attorney and Lawyer on SME Careers, up to $120/hr.
- Astronomer & Space Scientist on SME Careers, up to $100/hr.
- Telugu Team Lead with Mathematical Background on SME Careers, up to $25/hr.
These are individual listings, not a ranking of fields. Pay is usually set in USD by the platform, so the figure on the listing is the figure the project is built around regardless of where you live. We make no claims about how that compares to local salaries; that depends on your field and your city.
Some listings on the site pay per audio file or per task rather than hourly. We never convert those into an hourly figure, and none of the 139 India listings are counted that way.
By field, the India set breaks down as 36 generalist roles, 31 in software and data, 24 in science and engineering, 11 in finance and business, 11 in languages, 9 in medicine and health, 6 in law and compliance and 5 in voice and audio. You can browse Generalist AI training jobs, Software & data AI training jobs and Science & engineering AI training jobs by field.
Roles in local languages
Language work is a real category here, though small. Of the 139 listings, 11 fall under languages, and the languages named across the set are Bengali (3), Malayalam (3), Telugu (2), Hindi (2), Urdu (2) and Gujarati (1). Tamil does not appear in the current India set as of October 22, 2026.
Language team lead roles are the best fit if you are a native speaker with review experience, because the work is checking other people's output rather than producing your own at volume. Expect an assessment in the language itself, so apply for the language you can read and write formally, not the one you speak at home if those differ.
How to tell if a listing is open to you
- Look for a country list or the word worldwide. If neither is there, treat the listing as unknown.
- Treat "Remote" as a statement about the desk, not about eligibility.
- Check whether India is one of several countries named. On SME Careers roles that is common.
- Read the title for a licence or degree requirement. A medical doctor role needs a medical qualification, and Handshake AI roles often name a degree level.
- Check the pay wording. "Up to" means a ceiling.
If a listing does not name your country, skip it. Applying with a different location or through a VPN puts the account at risk and the application is likely to be dropped anyway.
Getting paid and taxes
Payment method and schedule vary by platform and by project, so check the platform's own payment page for your country before you start. Tax depends on where you live and how you are engaged, so check with a local accountant.
We earn a referral reward when someone is hired through our apply links. How referral links work here explains the arrangement, including the part that matters: it never affects which jobs we list or how we describe pay.
Where to go from here
Start with the jobs open in India filter. It shows only listings that name India, updated daily from each platform's public feed. If you have a specialist background, read the SME Careers roles first, since they make up most of the list.
